Websites and content management systems with specialized features

Not every website can make do with standard pages and images. To meet clients’ specific needs, I develop a modular CMS that I can extend with custom content elements and features.

Incident tracking for a volunteer fire department

Real-world example
1

The brief

In addition to standard content, the volunteer fire department’s website needed a specialized way to record and display incidents. The usual features of a simple website were not enough for this type of content.

2

The solution

I extended the content management system with a specialized record type and a way to display those records on the website. Thanks to its modular foundation, the administration interface could be tailored to the organization’s actual needs.

3

The result

The resulting website supports both standard pages and the recording and publication of incidents. The project shows how a standard CMS can be enhanced with specialized functionality.

Content management system

Content management without unnecessary restrictions

The CMS supports the management of pages, navigation, media, blog content, language versions, SEO settings and publishing. It can be extended with custom record types and content elements for individual projects.

One reason I continue to develop my own modular foundation is that it allows me to respond more quickly to the needs of projects where general-purpose content management systems fall short.

Modern editing

Edit directly on the page or using AI

Alongside traditional content management, the modern version of the CMS supports visual editing: text can be edited directly on the page and new elements can be added.

The MCP interface also makes it possible to request selected changes through an AI assistant, such as ChatGPT. This is a practical way to simplify routine website management tasks.

I do not consider a custom CMS to be a universal answer for every project. I choose the right solution based on the client’s needs, the required features and long-term management requirements.
